May 10, 2017 | JOHN RAY
This week, we’ll experience a different rhythm. In our Lent readings, Britt Chloe offers this quote:
“...Lent is about preparation and expectation. What we prepare for, and what we expect, is the risen Lord
trampling down death, by death.’ Lent is a beautiful invitation for us to travel with the Lord into
Jerusalem, to once again live out our baptism where we have been baptised into Christ’s death, to
go with Him through that experience and rise with Him once again into the new life of the Church.”
To help understand and reflect on this, consider reading according the following schedule:
Monday: John 13 & 14
Tuesday: John 15
Wednesday: John 16 & 17
Thursday: John 18
Friday: John 19
Saturday: no readings, no prayers, just silence
Sunday: Chapter 20
You could read these as part of your personal devotions, as well as with your family.
Reread as possible.
Let the words and pace of the story inform your days and imagination.
There will be lots of Lenten and Easter activities in various churches this week.
Here are a couple that are available:
> Christ the King Maundy Thursday service, 6:30-7:30 p.m., 2828 North Crossover in Fayetteville
