APRIL 22-27, 2021

What compass are you using to navigate your way through this world? What are you orienting to when chaos comes, things seem clouded and unclear? Also, wanna ride some high desert slick rock? While the answer to the first questions take time, reflection and deep consideration, the answer to the last one is pretty simple. Of course you do. So say yes to the easy one and we’ll work our way through the others together. Here’re the detes.

Tuesday April 20:

Gear drop off and packing in NWA

Wednesday April 21:

Advance group will split 0 dark thirty with bikes and gear and make the numbing drive across the great Kansas moat to the glorious mountains of Colorado.

Thursday April 22:

Those who can’t make the drive fly in early to Denver and catch the shuttle to Vail or fly directly into Eagle/Vail airport and save the shuttle fee. Pick up bike rentals for those renting and go for a quick acclimation ride. Supper and crash at an Airbnb.

Friday April 23:

Head West on 70 to Fruita to our campground Saddlehorn in the Colorado National Monument. Gear up and hit the trails. Spend the day riding Rabbit Valley until our legs fall off or our lungs explode. Back to camp for grub and an evening around the campfire.

Saturday April 24:

Wake up to spectacular views from the top of the mesa. Bomb the trails of the famous 18 Road system. Get ready for Zipadeedoodah. Back to camp for another evening under the stars, reflection and talking story.

Sunday April 25:

Take in more of the endless opportunities to ride, maybe take on Horsethief Bench trail? Of course!  Grab a beer in Fruita before heading back up into the mountains for a final supper together, talking story and to crash at an Airbnb near Vail.

Monday April 26:

Group flying out heads to the airport while group driving back gets one more day to ride the high altitude trials of the Vail Valley or Salida area, depending on the weather.

Tuesday April 27:

Driving group up early to head back to NWA

*There is the possibility to stay and ride and fly out on Tuesday, but transportation to Denver and lodging there or in the Vail Valley if flying out of Eagle is on your own.

The cost is $950* per participant based on 9 riders. This includes all transportation to and from Colorado if driving and all transportation in Colorado for everyone (airfare and airport transfers are not included). It also includes bike and gear transportation to and from NWA and in Colorado. All campground fees and Airbnb lodging, all meals, beverages and fuel while camping and while riding and an Abide Collective Adventure tech shirt and journal are included as well. Not covered are meals when we eat out, bike gear, your bike or bike rental.

This is serious mountain biking. You’re going to need a trail worthy ride and dedicated gear. We’ll have tools and support equipment but come prepared with gear you need specific to your bike. Appropriate clothing also is also a must. Do the research and bring what you need to ride hard for 3-4 days. The weather is classic mid-Spring desert, really dry with highs in the 60-70’s during the day and 30-40’s at night. It’ll be cooler up in the Vail Valley. The sun can be intense at that altitude and there’s very little shade so prepare for hours in the direct sun. We’ll provide all tents and camping gear with the exception of your personal sleeping bag/mat/pillow. We can hit up local stores if you forget anything.

*The Abide Collective is not a professional guide service. This trip is a group of friends traveling together and sharing the costs. This is not a fee for professional outfitting.
